Sweet, sweet summer! Many of us live slightly (or drastically) different lifestyles come summer, at least here in New England where the warmth and sunshine is cherished after a cold winter and slushy spring. While your life may slow down (or pick up if you’re packing in your travel!) summer is a GREAT time to finally commit to resolving your symptoms of Crohn’s and colitis and I will tell you why!
More lax time = more time to focus on you
Maybe your kids’ sports take a break for the summer or your office is much more flexible with time off, or maybe you just have more time in the day thanks to the early sunrise and late sunset. All in all, summer is likely the season in which you have more time to pour into yourself.
When it comes to healing from chronic, autoimmune, and gut health issues, time to focus on you is a necessity, it really isn’t an option. These issues don’t go away on their own and only get worse when ignored (especially when they are autoimmune). Chronic inflammation is the factor to stay on top of.
If you have abandoned your self care, are living with symptoms daily, and simply don’t know where to start with getting your health in place, why not start in summer?
By the time summer is over, you will be in a much better place
My Nutrition & Lifestyle Healing Program is three months long, and while that is not the end-all-be-all for healing autoimmunity, it is a fantastic start. My Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis clients have resolved issue like bloating, poor energy, balanced nutrient deficiencies, and gained a strong sense of what foods are working for them over the course of my program. It is really exciting to think that when life picks back up in September and we prepare for cooler days and holiday busyness, you won’t have the stress of health on your shoulders!
No time like the present
No matter what the season, you cannot argue that starting today is better than starting tomorrow. As I have emphasized, chronic conditions are much easier to manage when you operate from a preventative place than a reactive place, but either way, a multi-faceted approach is the way to go!
