I had not read Davis’ book prior to this one, “Wheat Belly,” which focused on gluten. This book talked about all grains as being problematic. This is a great read to learn or reemphasize why grains should not be a main portion of our diet. I love when a classically train M.D. uses his expertise to share the truth against a faulty conventional school of thought, such as “healthy whole grains.” Bits and pieces of “Wheat Belly Total Health” get jargon-y, I believe anyone, regardless of formal or medical education can learn a great deal from Davis.

This book is named a classic among businesspeople, entrepreneurs, and those forever seeking to improve their people skills. I have to say, I am impressed with Carnegie! Although first written in the 1930’s, I felt a lot of what he spoke to is still relevant today. In fact, his advice on winning people over in business is what a lot of gurus, coaches, and prominent business accelerators are advocating today. “How to Win Friends & Influence People” is a must if you are a salesperson, entrepreneur, manage people, or simply want to communicate with people better.

Looking for a light read? This book includes dozens of stories of accomplished individuals in all different mediums. I love learning about how successful people became that way. If you do too, you’ll learn about some new and familiar people who are the best at what they do and how they got there.

Yoga for Chronic Pain: 7 Steps to Aid Recovery from Fibromyalgia with Yoga

Available for under $10 on Amazon, this is solid place to start (and revist) for yoga and mindfulness best practices with chronic illness. Kurin has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome herself and and after years of suffering, discovered the power of yoga. She studied it deeper and now offers free videos, online courses, and more at Aroga Yoga. This book breaks down yoga into digestible bits of information with action items to get you started. If you haven’t attempted learning about yoga, movement, and focusing on the breath and mind, I encourage you to start with this!

I planned to read at least 6 books in the second half of 2018 but fell short. Life happens! I am already excelling on my 2019 book list and I am excited to share those with you later in 2019!
