Earlier in 2018 I asked my Instagram followers if they would be interested in a blog post that shared the books I read each month. Well, I haven’t had time to crush one book per week, which would be ideal for a monthly blog post, so I decided to do a wrap-up of what I read during the first and second halves of 2018.
Below is what I read from January to June 2018. These are a mix of:
- Self help/personal development – I used to think these books were for people who couldn’t figure their life out. As an entrepreneur and someone who is highly interested in becoming more well-rounded all the time, I now love this genre.
- Health/wellbeing – Not in the traditional sense. These books encapsulate what it means to be healthy from a mindset/perspective and lifestyle stance.
I often read business books as well but didn’t accomplish any these past 6 months. Not too long ago I only read fiction, and I still love a solid fiction novel. In this season of life I am just more focused on business, health, and personal development, but there may be one or two that pop up in the next reading post in December or January.
Be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you have read any of these and what you thought about them!!
You Are a Badass
How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero
Okay, this book, everyone should read. Whether you are into self-help books or not. You Are a Badass is funny, honest, and truly gives you some inspiration and motivation.
We are often our own worst enemies; holding ourselves back from what we really want. This book can help you break free from that.
You Are A Badass At Making Money
Master the Mindset of Wealth by Jen Sincero
You are a Badass at Making Money is one I will read again and again. Jen brings her sense of humor along for this important and semi-taboo topic of being good at making money!
What I love about this book is that Jen isn’t just about hustling more or the same old money strategies. She covers the inside work. Money blocks, poor beliefs about money, and more, that is necessary to be successful.
Spontaneous Happiness
A New Path to Emotional Well-Being by Andrew Weil, MD
Andrew Weil, MD of DrWeil.com is somewhat of a celebrity doctor sharing his balanced approach to health and wellness that utilizes the best of modern and traditional medicine.
I really enjoyed Spontaneous Happiness and would recommend it to anyone. It is written for the average person and offers actionable tips for tackling common health obstacles. I am looking forward to reading “Mind Over Meds” by Weil!
All is Well
Heal Your Body with Medicine, Affirmations, and Intuition by Louise Hay and Mona Lisa Schulz, M.D., Ph.D
Wow. This one was kind of an eye-opener. I am into all the woo-woo stuff, but I felt a little more committed to the power of beliefs, self-talk, and body love after reading this book. Especially because these two women have personally helped transformed the lives of many in tough situations.
There is a whole section at the end of All is Well on affirmations for tons of different health issues. You get a lot out of this one book!
The Universe Has Your Back
Transform Fear to Faith by Gabrielle Bernstein
Another eye-opening self-improvement book. I consider this one a little more woo-woo than “You Are a Badass,” but that’s not a bad thing.
Gabrielle has endured a lot of hardships in her life but is now a successful author and speaker on utilizing your spirituality to create the life you want.
Honestly it feels good to know The Universe Has Your Back, you just have to work with it!
The Biology of Belief
Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter, & Miracles by Bruce H. Lipton, Ph.D
I will absolutely be re-reading this one! The Biology of Belief is such a valuable book. Lipton is a pioneer in the research of epigenetics, or how our environment affects our genes.
I don’t believe we are destined to develop health problems just because they run in our family. I believe, like Lipton, we have a fair amount of influence over if these genes express themselves.
I am excited to hear if you enjoyed any of these books as well. Now that we are in the second half of 2018, I am aiming to read 2 books per month. Better get reading!
What is on your reading list? I love suggestions!
