It can be hard to live in the moment when you're healthy and things are going well. The thought of feeling lethargic, frustrated, and not tolerating food again is just too exhausting to think about!

Can we control every aspect of our life and body? No.

Can we support ourselves greatly and stack the odds in our favor to feel good and stable? Yes. Not by chance, but with strategy and intentional choices every day.

How to do this? First, it's ensuring that we've laid the groundwork. Have we been intentional with healing our gut, stabilizing our immune system, and regulating our nervous system, after all of the survival mode we've been in?! The foundations are where it's at. Remember, other interventions will not last if these are not nurtured.

Do we have whole body tools in the toolbox via food, supplements/herbs, and lifestyle practices and routines to lean on and bounce back from hiccups more quickly?

Multifaceted health issues require multifaceted solutions. Nurturing m your whole body intention is key!

Low fodmap is one of the elimination diets out there and is most commonly used for IBS.

I'm a big fan of the elimination/healing diets particularly if you're navigating dietary changes alone. They provide structure and black-and-white guidelines that are simple to follow. They do tend to be on the restrictive side, I mean, they are elimination diets, and when used with people with chronic dysfunction, that is necessary for a bit.

In my experience, outside of some clients not tolerating onions or garlic, which are high fodmap foods, I haven't seen the need to use the low fodmap diet prescriptively. That doesn't mean people haven't benefited from it, but in my approach of using the least amount of restriction while still maintaining healing progress, I've found I don't need to go full force in one of these diets (most of the time).

PS The approach I use to guide my clients on diet is the same that I used to create my eating for IBD e-book!

Gut healing wins depend on lots of factors like

- where you are in your health now

- plain old bioindividuality!

Some of these clients are on medication and some are not. In my practice you're welcome either way — whole body healing work is pivotal either way!

My client has had Crohn's for 30 years, is also an NTP like me, and is an NP. She has her own practice with her own clients and is still having some BIG breakthroughs in her three-month program that she's been chasing for years.

The point of sharing this?

➡️ It is difficult to get a totally clear unbiased view of your body and your health. Even if you understand this from practitioner standpoint, you are going to have biases that get in the way. Ie, everyone is going to need help at some point and that is OK.

➡️ It's never too late to seek help or make positive change.

➡️ Healing is multifactorial. An approach to healing that involves the body as a whole and your inner world is a winning combo.
