What better time than Earth Day, April 22, to reconsider our impact on the Earth. It’s time we end pollution, littering, and flooding toxins into our soil and water. Every small change we can make to reduce our waste paves the way for a healthier world. And you guessed it, this will make us healthier, too!

By swapping one-time-use products for these innovative environmentally-friendly brands, you are reducing your waste and creating a healthier environment for everyone. These are just some of my favorites brands. Share these ideas with your friends and family and make your impact go even further. Be sure to comment if you enjoy these companies too and let me know your favorite reusable products!

Stasher Bags

Stasher Bag JadeStasher Bags are meant to replace single-use plastic sandwich and snack bags. They come in many colors and sizes to fit any needs. They are freeze-able, microwaveable, steamable and even dishwasher-safe (my favorite feature), horray!

These can be used for anything you would use plastic bags, plastic wrap, or aluminum foil for. I have used them for storing avocado or lemon halves, packing washed fruit or plantain chips as a snack, or for taking the occasional gluten free sandwich for lunch.

With three different sizes, you can find a Stasher bag for any need, and in any cute color!

Bee’s Wrap

At the time of writing this post I have ordered my first Bee’s Wrap, but I have not tried it yet, just to be transparent and let you know! However, I have seen people rave about this product and I can totally see the appeal.

This amazing product replaces plastic wrap or aluminum foil. It is made from organic cotton, jojoba oil, tree resin, and sustainably sourced bee’s wax! You simply cover whatever it is you are storing and the warmth of your hands will adhere the wax.

Bee’s Wrap is reusable and washable with a mild dish soap. Plus, the founder is from Vermont. I love a fellow New Englander!

Reusable Straws

According to the National Park Service, over 500 million straws are used in the U.S. alone! That amount of straws would fill 125 school buses every single day.

Guess how many get recycled? I don’t have a stat for you there but let me put it this way, how often have you eaten out and thought, “I should save this straw to recycle later?”

While we are at home or heading out, there are environmentally-friendly options!

Reusable glass straws with cleaning straw

There are glass straws (which I prefer, just based on look and personal preference), but these are less ideal for children, parties, or taking on-the-go.

I use these glass straws every time I drink warm lemon water to save my teeth from enamel loss. These have been great and are dishwasher safe, but they also come with a cleaning straw!

Reusable stianless steel straws with cleaning straw

Then there are stainless steel straws. This is a great unbreakable option for child-use, on-the-go drinks, and entertaining.

These ones are also dishwasher safe but include a cleaning straw for your convenience. It doesn’t get easier!

Reusable (Plastic-Free) Water Bottles

Healthy Human bottles

It’s important to make the switch to a water bottle not made from plastic to reduce your exposure to the plastic leaching into your water over time.

I am such a huge fan of Healthy Human water bottles that I am an ambassador for their products. They continue to grow and stock various styles and sizes of water bottles. I love my stein with a sports cap to easily open my water bottle. I also have a cruiser that comes with a stainless steel straw, perfect for sipping.

What’s great is the inside is able to keep hot drinks hot for 12 hours and cold ice-cold for 24 hours. I have personally tested it and they do work that way! I always fill up one of my Healthy Human bottles before leaving the house so I always have filtered water at hand.

Eat Local, Organic, Sustainable, Properly Raised Food

Shopping from local farms or stores reduces the packaging and fuel emissions needed to transport the food from where it was grown or made to where you are buying it.

Organic food is even better, because it wasn’t grown with toxic synthetic pesticides, which are detrimental to our health and the Earth!

When it comes to our meat, organic, free range, pasture-raised/grass-fed animals are the way to go. Not only is it ethical to raise animals on open space on their proper diet, but that is how we raise healthy meat. What we eat becomes us, so the connect is self-explanatory there.

Butcher BoxIf you do not live in an area with local farms or a Whole Foods to buy this kind of meat, then Butcher Box is going to become your friend! Through this service you can have the best quality meat shipped to your house frozen as often as you decide. Choose what you want in your box or let them. I love that there is no penalty for canceling your subscription at any time, so there is no risk to try it out. With my affiliate link, you can try Butcher Box and get $10 off your first box with a free package of bacon added.

Recycled Toothbrushes

Toothbrushes didn’t used to come to mind when I thought about recycling until I saw recycled toothbrushes in Whole Foods one day. It really made me think about how many toothbrushes we must go through!

Preserve recycled toothbrushes

There are many types to choose from, so you can try out whatever you please. I have tried this brand, Preserve, that uses recycled plastic.

Biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes

I’m also super intrigued to try these sustainable, 100% biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes with charcoal infused in the bristles!

I am so excited to see what other products come to the market. I believe the market of reusability and sustainability is only growing as our need to restore care to the Earth becomes more imminent.
