Hello, Friends!

I was going to wait to write a blog post until I had some solidified news to share, but I couldn’t wait. I feel the urge to talk to you now!

A few weeks ago I had blood drawn to test a wide range of things. Results showed elevated SED rates and CRP levels (markers of inflammation, so not that surprising). I am slightly deficient in some vitamins, but nothing disastrous and I am working on that. 🙂

I had my endoscopy and colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago. Results were a bit shocking to all involved, especially my new GI doctor. There were no signs of active disease in my esophagus or colon (except for two small ulcers in my colon). Basically, MY INTESTINES ARE THINGS OF BEAUTY.

I still want to jump for joy over that. My mom said my first two endo/colonoscopies that were done from my beginning years of sickness (ages 12-13) had severe ulcers covering these parts. My doctor who is not on the holistic mindset at all told me, “Keep doing what you’re doing.” Meaning eating REAL food. Although my body doesn’t always feel great and makes me second guess the path I have taken, this is real scientific proof of the healing powers of honest, pure food not food products.

Some signs of narrowing of the small intestine could be seen, and because that is the hardest part to get to, I had an MRE done last Friday. Basically it was an MRI to get a close up view of my small intestine. It involved some decent tasting contrast (yes I used those words together), THREE attempts to get in an IV (from a nurse on the IV team! Good grief.) And a shot to slow down the activity of my small intestine so images wouldn’t be blurry. The nurse even had gluten free cookies for me to eat afterwards. I think it is safe to say my arms would like a break from being incessantly poked.

We are still awaiting those MRE results and biopsy results from the endo/colonoscopies. They should be here sometime this week.

More good news… I have been feeling great since after the MRE. More than great. Almost, dare I say… normal? Just thinking about myself and feeling like a normal person in the same sentence makes me giddy!

Until I have results to share I am going to keep on fighting the good fight. Real nutrition, vitamins, yoga, gratefulness, plenty of rest, and positivity. I cannot wait to share what happens next.

Thank you for reading! XO
