About IBD Healthline

You’ve seen plenty of health-tracking apps. You open them, log meals, symptoms, and keep track of appointments. I am so excited to introduce you to a brand new app, specifically for people with IBD, brought to us by my good friends at Healthline.

Upon creating an account you can fill out a profile that you can make as personal (or impersonal) as you would like. It includes optional questions about your interests and specifics about your condition.

It is so important to arm yourself with a great support system and IBD Healthline is like a Facebook group, support group, and an IBD search engine all in one.

IBD Healthline Features

“Home”

The “Home” tab is like a Facebook or Twitter news feed. You can see what new comments or questions that have been posted and engage with them if you want to.

“Groups”

Tap on the “Groups” tab and you will see a list of categories like “Personal Community,” “Treatment & Side Effects,” “Newly Diagnosed,” and “Diet & Alternative Therapies,” to name a few. Simply tap on a group and you can view the conversation threads going on about different sub-topics. You are free to ask your own questions or lend some advice to another member’s question.

There are also live chats that happen in the “Groups” tab. Various experts and people living with IBD host discussions on all types of topics, from symptoms to relationships and everything in between. You can join in the conversation in real-time or read through the discussions afterwards.

“Members”

This is where IBD Healthline gets very unique! The app offers a “daily match” option. When it is turned on, you will get matched with one person on the app per day that is chosen for you based on age, interests, and more! You can strike up a conversation and get to know them to begin building you IBD network.

You can also begin a conversation with anyone shown to you in “all members.” Each member chooses an icebreaker question to feature on their profile, so it helps to think up ideas of what to talk about!

“Messages”

This is where any conversations you have will be stored. They appear just like text messages between you and the other person.

“Discover”

This tab is like a news feed with Healthline articles and resources. Scrolling through my “Discover” tab now I see articles titled, “6 Ways to Love Your Body on Bad Days with Chronic Illness,” and “Anti-Inflammatory Diet 101: How to Reduce Inflammation Naturally,” just to name two out of many!

So, Why IBD Healthline?

This app offers support in so many ways all in one location. To recap, the app provides:

  • Connection with real people who have IBD
  • Live chats covering all sorts of topics related to IBD
  • Informative Healthline articles and resources
  • A place to get advice and support
